HOW TO USE THE KRISP FM STUDIO

HISTORY

The students at Grimsby College have been running the station since 1995. To tell the truth up until 1998 it was crap. In 1998 two students on the Media Production course decided that it didn't have to be that way. Those two students were James McDonald & Lisa Gardner.

The aim was to raise the profile, standard ad respectability of the station. They started this transformation with a name - yep, you guest it, that name was KRISP.

1998 was a great year for Krisp fm. The manager's went about gaining interest from local and national businesses, most notably being Virgin.

Ronnie was in direct liaison with radio and television mogul Chris Evans, this helped give Krisp a higher profile and boy did it work.

The station was not a success because it had the names of a few celebrities attached to it, but the shows on it were the best yet. The nice thing about Krisp fm is that for the duration it's on air there is a buzz around the area.

RADIO INDUSTRY

Krisp gives the college and the locals something to be proud of. Hopefully this year will be the same. Krisp fm also gives the students here a chance to get involved in the radio industry.

Shortly after Ronnie completed his HND at Grimsby he went on to work with Chris Evans in London. He is currently working on the sports desk at BBC Radio Nottingham.

Shameful "name droppers" Lawrence Lartey and Chris Addison, stars of the "Flava In Ya Ear" show worked briefly at KISS 100 fm in London. Lawrence currently works for Touch & Pride Magazines whilst still doing some work for KISS 100. Chris is the studio manager at Krisp this year.

The History of Krisp fm could, or maybe has already created a star of the future. Don't be surprised to turn on your radio one-day and recognise a voice you heard on Krisp.

The transformation in Krisp has been remarkable, in the space of a few years Krisp has gone from a laugh for the students to a professionally run station with around thirty staff members.

2000

2000 Krisp has taken measures to make sure that it goes down in history as another great year. The website, www.krispfm.com has expanded the coverage and increased the profile of the station up a notch or two.

This years LAUNCH PARTY (5th May - Drum Bar) will force the history books to be re-written because it promises to be the best party Grimsby has ever seen.

So if you want to see history in the making make sure you TUNE IN & LOG ON to Krisp 87.7 fm.
