Truly
a Success!!!
 |
The
Krisp Fm launch party which
took place on Friday night
the 5th of May 2000 was prone
to a few teething problems
with some local frequency
trying to gatecrash our output,
karaoke style, but what great
party is really a party without
its initial glitches.
|
Doors opened at 6pm with guests
arriving in their few, but did station
manager Nic Dacre look worried?
Nah…, and so he shouldn't have because
by 7.30pm the drib's and drab's
had turned into first class kick-A**
party goers.
| Local
DJ's took it in turns to warm
up the crowds with a first class
cocktail mixed on a 4K sound
system supplied by Powerplay.
|
 |
 |
"It
was a bit slow earlier on but
now the atmosphere's great."
Ian Ian
Hills, local DJ on the Tourism
& Marketing Student/Grimsby
College.
The
students taking part in the
'Battle of the DJ's' feel this
was an excellent opportunity
for them, to showcase their
talents live on air while they
competed against fellow professional
DJ's. |
 |
"The
atmosphere's great, class DJ's…I'm
hoping for someone to recognize
my talents and advise me in
becoming a success."
Steve Jennings, former Electrical
Engineering and AS Level Math's
student, Grimsby College.
They hope to have set new standards
and let people know that they
are a part of the future success
of the music scene achieving
heights mimicking Judge Jules,
Paul Oakenfold and beyond. |
As
the night progressed former Drumbar
manager Nick Thompson returned to
the College to once again to entertain
but this time in the role of DJ,
Jay Thomson with decks at hand before
Fantazia's very own Mike Cosford
truly hypnotized the dance-floor.
 |
Mike
Cosford began his career in
the Balearic days of 1989 when
he promoted and DJ'ed at some
of the West Countries first
rave parties, playing for many
of the early Rave Organisations
such as Perception, Tribal Dance
, Incantation and Fantazia. |
It was at this point that he decided
to turn his energies into the house
and clubscene as the music of the
early 90's progressed into a harder
style.
Mike
is one of Fantazias exclusive album
Dj's. It is a little known fact
that Mike is the only DJ in the
country who has featured on more
albums than any other DJ - personally
notching up in excess of 450, 000
albums to date.
We
now see him playing to packed
dancefloors the world over,
including such clubs as Gatecrasher
creating a fierce reputation
as one of the finest party DJ's
on the circuit today. With the
albums he mixes for Fantazia
he always provides a seamless
mix of pumping house, proving
that he is without doubt one
of the finest DJ's the UK has
ever produced!
|
 |
"So
far the mixing has been solid. I
guess I'm looking for a variety
of qualities, an ability to move
the crowd, play the right records
for the time, the technical aspect
of mixing, but that's really the
technicality of the base level,
people are expected to have that
ability."
"Above that it's getting people
on the dance floor and creating
a flow that works. It's very difficult,
there are a great many people who
want to be successful DJ's the best
thing to do is make a record that's
successful. I think that the more
opportunities for the students the
better."
"This is a good opportunity
to get the experiences."
Mike Cosford, Fantazia.
