| 23 August 2002 news@krispfm.com | TRICKY REMIXES FILM THEME The last we heard of Tricky was on the ‘Blowback’ album, released last year. However, the maverick creator hasn’t been resting on his laurels too much, because he’s remixed the theme to the new Hollywood blockbusting thriller, ‘Signs’. The film, which was written and directed by M. Night Shyamalan (‘Sixth Sense’), stars Mel Gibson as Graham Hess, a reverend caught up in an investigation of mysterious crop circles in Pennsylvania. | |
| 16 August 2002 news@krispfm.com | BEATOLOGY.NET - MUSIC, ANIMATION AND SCIENCE? Once in a while our team will fall upon a gem on the Internet worthy of a gracious mention here on our news pages. What we stumbled upon is a site called www.beatology.net, which includes animation, MP3 streaming music and pages of information on various forms of music.
According to the site manifesto, "Beatology.net is the study of various forms of music that can be found in record shops or via the Internet. Beatology.net covers genre by genre critiques of over 40 different types of music including, Alternative, Ambient, Dance, Easy, Electronic, Rock, Urban & World Music."
Beatology.net is both visually and musically rich, making extensive use of Flash animation and MP3 streaming. The opening animation screen is a perfect introduction to the site but continues to loop over and over until the user jumps to another link. The nice graphics and sound adds to the overall audio-visual experience that is above all, interactive in the true sense of the word.
The site fulfils its objective of explaining the term and science of "Beatology" extremely well, through the use of relevant examples throughout the site. It’s a well-designed site that has high production and aesthetic values, which aid the overall usability of the site in general.
The average web user spends only 8 seconds browsing a page, so this site is perfectly taking that into account as there’s plenty of audio/visual content there to keep surfers enthralled.
Don't take our word for it, turn up your speakers and visit the site at www.beatology.net

| 14 August 2002 news@krispfm.com | TALKING ‘BOUT A REVOLUTION Everyone knows that dance music is going through some changes with the long-standing club nights now beginning to fade away and superstar DJs more concerned with ‘expressing their musical landscapes’ with their own artist albums but Kosheen says we need a massive overhaul as clubbers are getting bored.
Band member Darren said: "I think the dance scene is ready for a massive overhaul. I think people are getting bored with the same old thing, especially in Ibiza this year. There's a reduced amount of people coming out here and people are looking for some different things. Promoters are going to have to rethink a different approach. I think variety of clubs is very important."
Lead singer Sian believes it just as much about evolution as revolution though: "A lot of dance music producers are trying to develop and progress rather than stay within a fixed genre. That's very exciting to see. People such as Adam F are stepping out of what they've been doing and are now working with some top producers."
The DnB trio have just played the first night of Lynx Extended Play festival that’s taking place in a private villa on the White Isle and runs for six weeks. Kosheen are also about to release a new album following a solid two years on the road.

The same people are proud to announce another superb event relived; “Insomniacz By The Sea - At The Street In Skegness”. This special event will be launching on Saturday the 29th of June 2002.
Last year New Years Eve at "Fantasy Island" went really well, the Insomniacz Arena was the busiest all night. Just fewer than 7,000 people attended the event. The producers have teamed up with the owners of the ultimate New Years Eve party at Skegness and Sunday Service from Derby to bring the ultimate summer event:
INSOMNIACZ BY THE SEA
The venue to host this event is “The Street Nightclub” in Skegness. It can be found opposite the beach on Skegness sea front. This is reportedly the largest themed indoor club currently in Britain. It has a street with dance arena parting from all sides and a main arena at the end of it. Everyone and anyone who attended Insomniacz last year loved the venue.
This Saturday you will find no less than 19 DJs, with the “Sunday Service” arena incorporating their well known residents bringing a flavour of Derby to Skegy. This event cannot be missed! Enjoy the funky house and chill out arenas also present, and pass-outs to the beach with fire eaters, clowns, dwarfs and much more.
